Buhari should hand over to Osinbajo if he has no clue to solving Nigeria's problems- Fayose

Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose has called on President Buhari to handover to Vice President Osinbajo if he does not have any clue to solving Nigeria's problems. He said this while signing the N67.04 billion 2016 appropriation bill of the state into law today December 15th
“Enough of these flimsy excuses. President Buhari has to fulfill all his electoral promises to the people. If he has no clues to all these problems, he should hand over to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo or whoever and bow out honourably.

Iranian President calls Buhari, protests killing of Shiites

President Buhari yesterday received a call from Iranian President Hassan Rouhani protesting the killing of Shiites during a clash between the Army and the Shiites in Kaduna on Saturday December 12th that left over 60 Shiite members dead.

The Iranian president said “minor disputes must not be allowed to turn into deep differences” among Muslims and also demanded for information on the fate of the leader of Nigeria’s “Shia Muslims”.

EFCC alleges Dasuki used part of the arms deal fund to buy properties in Dubai and London

Counsel to EFCC, Rotimi Jacobs told the Federal High Court yesterday during the bail hearing of Dasuki and 2 others that investigations by the anti-graft agency showed that the former National Security Adviser used some of the loots from the N32 billion arms deal fund to acquire properties in Dubai and London. Rotimi stated this in the counter-affidavit he presented before the court while opposing Dasuki's bail application. The counter-affidavit in part reads
“That our investigation also revealed that the applicant transferred large sums of monies outside Nigeria and he acquired several assets in Dubai and London with these funds.”.

Millionaire businessman cleared of raping teenager after he told court he may have accidentally penetrated her

A Saudi millionaire has been cleared of raping a teenager after claiming he might have accidentally penetrated the 18-year-old when he tripped and fell on her.
Property developer Ehsan Abdulaziz, 46, was accused of forcing himself on the girl as she slept off a night of drinking on the sofa of his Maida Vale flat.

DSS drops charges against Biafra leader Nnamdi Kanu in Magistrate Court

The Charges filed by the Department of State Security against the director of the Indigenous People of Biafra and owner of Biafra Radio, Nnamdi Kanu at the Chief Magistrate Court Abuja has been dropped. Shuaibu Usman, the magistrate of the Chief Magistrate Court, Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, this morning discharged Kanu and struck out the case filed against him after the Federal government through its agent, the Department of State Services (DSS), approached the court to withdraw the case so that a higher court, which has jurisdiction to entertain charges bordering on terrorism, can take over.

Appeal court nullifies Gov. Wike election, orders a rerun in 90 days

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has nullified the election of Nyesom Wike as Governor of Rivers state. The three man panel today ruled on the appeal filed by Wike following the October 24th verdict of the Rivers state Governorship tribunal which nullified his election as governor of the state.

APC's candidate in the April 11th election, Dakuku Peterside had filed a petition at the state governorship tribunal, challenging Wike's election. After the tribunal ruled against his election, Wike approached the Court of Appeal to appeal the tribunal's verdict. The Appeal court has ordered a rerun election in the state within 90 days.

All Los Angeles Unified schools closed by 'credible threat' of violence

All schools in Los Angeles were closed today Tuesday Dec. 15th following a bomb terror threat which was made via electronic message and directed to 'students at many schools'. 600,000 kids were sent home after the district received an electronic threat to many schools.
Speaking about it, the LA Unified School District police Chief Steven Zipperman said the threat was still being evaluated and that schools would remain closed until the threat was cleared, which they hoped would be by the end of today.

Fuel price to revert to N97 as FG plans gradual removal of fuel subsidy in 2016

The Federal government has indicated plans to gradually remove fuel subsidy by 2016. This was made known by the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu while appearing before the Joint National Assembly Committee on Finance, Appropriation and National Planning yesterday Dec. 14.

'Again, count me out' - Saraki dismisses N310m robbery allegation

Senate President, Abubakar Bukola Saraki on Tuesday, December 8, dismissed claims that he was the owner of the N310m said to have been stolen during a robbery operation involving some military and State Security Service (SSS) officials. In a statement by his Special Adviser (Media and Publicity), Yusuph Olaniyonu, Saraki said the stolen money did not belong to him and that he did not know the owner, who is said to be a Bureau De Change operator.

FG budgets N500b for school feeding, post-NYSC grants, others in 2016

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday submitted a three-year, Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) to the Senate, proposing a budget of N6.04 trillion for the fiscal year of 2016. The Framework by Buhari indicated the preparedness of his government to fund a social welfare programme to the tune of N500 billion to the benefit of needy Nigerians.

According to a breaking news report, Nicki Minaj's older brother, Jelani Maraj, has been charged with first degree rape of a girl that is just 12 years old. According to Newsday who broke the story, Jelani, who got married in August allegedly raped the girl in Long Island but didn't say when.

Fifa crisis: US charges 16 more officials after earlier Zurich arrests

The United States department of Justice in conjunction with Swiss police have released new indictments following the 6.a.m arrests of two FIFA Vice-presidents, Alfredo Hawit of Honduras and Juan Angel Napout of Paraguay, in Zurich yesterday. A total of 16 officials have been laced with fresh corruption charges for sums totalling $200million dollars mostly relating to TV and marketing deals in north, south and central America and the Caribbean.

Ekiti Man Sentenced to Death by Hanging Over N14,750 Robbery

An Ado-Ekiti High Court, yesterday, sentenced a man named David Olugboyega to death by hanging for an armed robbery operation in which N14,570 was stolen.
According to Vanguard, the accused committed the offence on March 20th, 2003 at Araromi Street, Ikere -Ekiti. Armed with weapons including gun and cutlass, Olugboyega is said to have robbed three people of N14,570.

FIFA discusses plans to expand the World Cup to 40 teams

FIFA's executive committee outlined new proposals at the news conference held in Zurich yesterday, including making sure there are at least six women on the newly-devised FIFA council, limiting presidential terms to a maximum of three and increasing the World Cup to 40 teams.

The proposal to increase the tournament by eight sides is on the agenda for the executive committee as part of a package of reforms for the world governing body.

Arms Deal Saga: EFCC Arrests Saliu Atawodi for Alleged Diversion of N600 Million

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) continues to investigate the alleged $2 billion arms deal fraud saga. 
On Thursday, the commission arrested more suspects in the case including former Chairman of the Presidential Implementation Committee on Marine Safety, Saliu Atawodi, who is being accused of alleged diversion of N600 million meant for acquisition of military boats for the use of the Nigerian armed forces, Vanguard reports.

Oscar Pistorius convicted of Reeva Steenkamp murder

South Africa’s Supreme court of appeal has found Oscar Pistorius guilty of murder in the death of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. The presiding judge, Justice Eric Leach, in his ruling this morning, ordered the original trial judge to impose a harsher sentence.

The minimum sentence for murder is 15 years in prison. Pistorius is currently living under house arrest at his uncle’s home in Pretoria, having been freed from prison after serving less than a year behind bars.

Poor salary should not justify stealing- Finance Minister Adeosun tells Nigerian Civil servants
