On Tuesday, August 25, a Rwandan pastor, Salim Mikdad, conducted what is arguably the largest conversion of Christians to Islam after he successfully got all 480 members of his congregation to switch faiths, Africa Metro reports.

Shell oil workers 'fired after video of them having sex found by wife'

Two oil workers have been sacked after a video of them having sex in a hotel room was shared online. Lee Hanlon, 32, and Amy Maxwell, 33, who are both married and met while working for Shell, recorded their illicit encounter on his mobile phone.


The film was discovered by Mr Hanlon’s wife Charon, who sent it to all his contacts including friends, workmates and bosses in an act of revenge. But the footage then ‘spread like wildfire’ as more people passed it on in messages and emails.

Former Governor of Akwa Ibom State Godswill Akpabio Involved in a Car Accident

Former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, was involved in a car accident this morning along the Airport Road in Abuja, Premium Times reports.
The crash reported occurred when one of the cars in the ex-governor’s convoy tried to beat the traffic light resulting in a collision with another car and the one that Akpabio was seated in.
An eye witness recounts ‘My wife and I were coming from the NNPC Mega Station and we stopped at the traffic light by Bolingo Hotel Junction. When the green light showed and we made to move, there was this siren blaring Mercedes Benz jeep that came from the town and almost crashed onto my car. I don’t know how we dodged but another that was behind the jeep hit the car behind me and tumbled on its side. I and my wife rushed out of our vehicle and helped the driver bring out his boss. When we brought him out, we found that it was former governor Godswill Akpabio. At the time we brought him out, the siren was still blaring. We put him in the other vehicle and he was rushed to the National Hospital.’
According to reports, he was later moved to a private section of the hospital for X-ray and other investigations.

According to a document, which was obtained from the Presidency on Saturday, the deal, which is now a subject of investigation, was allegedly carried out by Jonathan; his Chief Security Officer, Mr. Gordon Obuah; and former Minister of Petroleum, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke.

38 virgins killed in bus crash on their way to King of Swaziland's wife choosing ceremony

A road accident in Swaziland has killed 38 girls and seriously injured 20 others who were on their way to a traditional ceremony where King Mswati III can choose a new wife, pro-democracy activists reported.

The accident happened on Friday night when their open truck smashed into a car on the road between the tiny kingdom's two main cities, Mbabane and Manzini, en route to the traditional Reed Dance.

Former Ministers tell Pres. Buhari to stop Calling Jonathan’s Administration Corrupt & Irresponsible

DSS Reportedly Arrests 20 Suspected Boko Haram Leaders

According to a statement signed on behalf of the Department of State Service (DSS) by its spokesman, Tony Opuiyo, DSS confirmed the arrest of notable commanders and frontline members of the notorious group from different parts of the country.
In line with the DSS renewed counter-terrorism measures to combat the Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria, the arrest was made following fresh attacks in Borno State over the weekend.

Church members chase pastor from church for impregnating maid

 
There was commotion on Sunday at the United Methodist Church, Mafoluku, in the Oshodi area of Lagos as members of the church chased away their pasto for allegedly impregnating his housemaid.
It was learnt that the pastor, Barkuma Andrew, was stopped from leading the church seven months ago when the housemaid, who was also a member of the church, Grace, had complications after aborting the pregnancy.

Kanye West said that he is running for president in 2020 during his acceptance speech for the MTV Music Video Award’s lifetime achievement honor.

Rivers probe: Go and defend yourself, Wike tells Amaechi


Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has reacted to Amaechi's decision not to appear before a panel of Inquiry. The Governor called on Amaechi, to go and defend himself before the judicial commission of inquiry sitting in the state. Gov. Wike said that it was wrong for the former governor to describe the commission as illegal even when the court had ruled that the panel was in order.

Inspector General of Police Cuts Number of Policemen Attached to Governors from 150 to 62

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) is tackling the challenge of inadequate personnel in policing the country by reducing the number of men and officers deployed to each of the state governors from 150 to 62.
According to Inspector General of Police Solomon Arase, the police force needs to quickly beef up its 305,000 personnel, a number he said was insufficient to police the country, especially in the face of current security challenges.

Lagos Reportedly Shuts Down Dozens of Churches Over Noise Pollution

22 churches have been shut down for noisy worship in Lagos state. The head of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, Adebola Shabi, who disclosed this yesterday August 27th, said the agency shut down the churches following a series of complaints of disturbance by residents of the area where the churches are located.

Shun corruption or quit, Buhari warns civil servants

President Buhari has warned civil servants to shun corrupt practices or be shown the way out of the civil service. The permanent secretary in the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Muhammed Bukar, who spoke with NAN, said President Buhari gave the warning while receiving notes on the activities of the General Services Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

APC leaders upset as Pres. Buhari appoints more Northerners

There was outrage in the ruling All Progressives Congress party on Thursday over the announcement of new appointments by President Buhari. Leaders of the APC complained that the appointments were mostly in favour of the North and  Northerners.
“The President does not consult before making most of these appointments and I can tell you that Nigerians are going to term the party and the President as a northern party and the President of Northern Nigeria,” a leader of the party said on Tuesday.

Nigerian Ambassador to the US Ade Adefuye Passes Away

Adebowale Ibidapo Adefuye, Nigeria’s ambassador to the United States, has passed away.
According to SaharaReporters, he died at a Washington, DC hospital on Thursday.
The cause of his death is currently unknown.
Reports state that Adefuye was recalled to Nigeria after President Muhammadu Buhari was sworn in. He was in the process of handing over to a new ambassador before his sudden death.

Indian TV Exec Arrested for Murder


A prominent Indian TV executive, Indrani Mukerjea was arrested on Wednesday August 26 in Mumbai and accused of murdering Sheena Bora, her daughter from an earlier marriage. Mukerjea, who is the wife of Peter Mukerjea, the former CEO of Star India, is accused of ordering her driver to kill Bora and of disposing of the body three years ago. Mukerjea and the driver were charged with kidnapping, murder and destroying the evidence.

30- year-old Chonmanee Laphathanawat from Thai province of Rayong was yesterday August 27th sentenced to death by a High Court after finding her guilty of trafficking in 689.10gm of cocaine in 70 capsules hidden in her anus and her private parts. 

NDLEA arrests another Arik Air staff

An Arik air catering loader, Ikechukwu Chibuzor Oliver (pictured above) has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement, NDLEA, for being an accomplice to Chika Egwu, another staff of the airline who was on Monday Aug. 24 arrested at London's Heathrow airport with 20kg of cocaine worth N100 million.

Man Dies after Trying to Enter Tanker to Steal Diesel at Petrol Station along Asaba-Onitsha Express Way

A man said to be a tanker conductor, died after attempting to steal diesel from a parked tanker at a  petrol station located along Asaba-Onitsha express way.
According to several online reports, he went inside the tanker with rubber cans but was unsuccessful, as he died in the tanker.
Fire service personnel were called to the scene to cut open a part of the tanker to bring the deceased out.

EFCC begins probe of Amaechi's administration

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has commenced probe on the administration of the immediate past governor of Rivers state, of Rotimi Amaechi. According to a report by ThisDay, the probe comes after a Port Harcourt-based group, The Integrity Group, petitioned EFCC on July 29th, accusing the former governor of corruption, graft and abuse of office while he served as governor. 

Policeman mistakenly shoots self dead in Lagos

 
A police officer simply identified as Medugwu mistakenly shot himself dead while adjusting a rifle at the Mobile Police Force 20, in the Ikeja area of Lagos on Tuesday August 25th.

According to Punch, Medugwu who was attached to MOPOL 20 and the second-in-command to the armorer, accidentally pulled the trigger while adjusting his rifle when a bullet was fired from it, piercing through his jaw.

Adam Ward, the photojournalist shot dead on live TV yesterday morning, alongside TV reporter Alison Parker, may have filmed killer Vester Flanangan as he was fired from their TV station in 2013.

Vester, who shot and killed three people yesterday including himself, worked at WDBJ alongside Adam and Alsion for two years, but was eventually fired due to his poor performance and aggressive behavior. He had to be escorted from the building by police after refusing to leave, an incident which Ward allegedly filmed. After the killing yesterday, Vester released a rambling manifesto-cum-suicide note, in which he blamed racial discrimination, as well as Charleston church killings, for his attack.

Age limit disqualified me from youth corps – Obasanjo

Former president Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, yesterday, said he would have loved to participate in the National Youth Service Corps, but was disqualified because of his age. Obasanjo who graduated from National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN with a degree in Theology, said;
”Somebody wrote me a letter when he got to know that I have graduated from NOUN, he wanted me to do national youth service, but unfortunately for him there is age limit.”

University of Lagos has released results of its 2015 Post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). According to a statement signed by the institution’s Deputy Registrar, Information, Mr Olagoke Oke, 17, 935 candidates out of the 31,955 that sat for the entrance examination were successful.

Nigerian Man Dies in Malaysia After Selling his Kidney for N6 Million

A 28-year-old Nigerian man named Chukwudi, has died after selling his kidney for N6 million in Malaysia.
An individual said to be a business man told Pulse the news.
The unnamed source said:
“I know many Nigerians will say it is none of my business how others make their money but I want to bring this to the notice of our country people how many of our young men die here in Malaysia in very disturbing circumstances.
