The identity of ISIS executioner, “Jihadi John,” who is responsible for beheading several westerners held in captivity by ISIS, has reportedly been revealed.
According to CNN, he has been identified as Mohammed Emwazi, a Kuwaiti-born Londoner, who is a graduate of University of Westminster in London. He graduated in 2009 with a degree in computer programming.
Emwazi is said to have become an extremist due to several experiences he had while traveling in which he was often detained by counter-terrorism officials.
However, London police authorities have declined to confirm or deny whether Emwazi is really Jihadi John.
Richard Walton of the Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command said:
“We have previously asked media outlets not to speculate about the details of our investigation on the basis that life is at risk. We are not going to confirm the identity of anyone at this stage or give an update on the progress of this live counter-terrorism investigation.”
Similarly, a UK Foreign Office spokeswoman stated: “We will neither confirm nor deny the current reporting as to the identity of Jihadi John.”
