Chelsea is European Champion.
Obi Mikel has become only the 3rd Nigerian to win the European Championship Cup after Kanu Nwankwo and Finidi George. Chelsea did it by beating Bayern Munich 4 - 3 on Penalties.
Didier Drogba scored the decisive goal in the shootout, and Chelsea beat Bayern Munich to win the Champions League final after a dramatic 1-1 draw on Saturday.
Drogba sent goalkeeper Manuel Neuer the wrong way in front of massed Bayern fans in their home Allianz Arena. Bayern's Bastian Schweinsteiger missed the previous penalty, hitting the goalpost. The shootout was needed after Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech saved Arjen Robben's spot-kick early in extra time. It was awarded for a foul by Chelsea's talismanic forward Drogba, whose 88th-minute header tied it.
After 83 minutes of Bayern domination, Thomas Mueller broke dogged Chelsea resistance with a header past the outstanding Cech.
Chelsea got its first Champions League title, four years after losing in a shootout to Manchester United.
