Jada Pinkett-Smith has opened up in a new interview about her marriage to Will Smith, insisting divorce is not on the cards.
The 40-year-old actress spoke to French magazine, Gala and reflected on the media storm they were swept up in eight months ago, where it was claimed she had a fling with her Hawthorne co-star, Marc Anthony.
Will and Jada denied the reports at the time, which were published by InTouch magazine last August. Now the Matrixstar says she is still at a loss as to why she was ‘chosen’ to be at the centre of a celebrity divorce drama.
Asked why speculation of marital strife continues, Jada said: “I have no idea! Every year, one celebrity couple is under the microscope.
“This year, unluckily, it’s us! I almost want to say that we should have been expecting it.”
She went on: “Will and I know the truth. We’re waiting peacefully for the storm to blow over.”
Jada admitted she spends a lot of time apart from 43-year-old Will, who she married in 1997, but said it has always been that way on account of their hectic lifestyles.
“These rumours are completely untrue,” she said about reports of marital strife.
Acknowledging they spend a lot of time apart: “I travel a lot because of my work, just like Will does… But our lifestyle hasn’t changed.
“Before we had the kids, we were already far away from each other quite often because of separate projects.”
And she also set the record straight on their living arrangements, pouring cold water on reports they live under separate roofs: “That’s ridiculous. We’ve always lived together.”
Will is currently filming the M. Night Shyamalan movie, After Earth, with their son Jaden, 13, while Jada will be hitting the road with Willow, 11, on her singing tour.
Jada added, “as a mom, I’m very proud to see them pursuing the things they love.
“We leave them enough space to express themselves and make their dreams come true. We leave them free to make their own choices. We try not live through them.”
