Forbes' List of Highest Earning Hollywood Actresses of 2014

Forbes yesterday released its list of the highest-earning actresses between June 2013 and June 2014 and Sandra Bullock topped the list with an estimated $51 million in earnings. See the top 10 below..

1. Sandra Bullock - $51million - mostly from her movie, Gravity
2. Jennifer Lawrence - $34million - mostly from her franchise movie, Hunger Games
3. Jennifer Aniston - $31million - From Friends, endorsement deals and small budget movies
4. Gwyneth Paltrow - $19million - From Iron Man 3 and endorsement deals
5. Angelina Jolie - $18million - Part-payment for Disney film - Maleficent
6. Cameron Diaz - $18million - Mostly from her movie, The Other Woman
7. Scarlett Johansson - $17million - Mostly from Avengers and endorsement deals
8. Amy Adams - $13million - From Man of Steel, American Hustle

Mother jailed for having sex with her 12year-old son while her partner watched

The woman wore headphones as she abused the boy in her bedroom as her lover viewed online from abroad.

Photos: President Jonathan visits Abuja bomb blast site

President Jonathan this morning visited the scene of the bomb blast that rocked Emab Plaza in Abuja on Wednesday June 25th, killing 21 people. The President, who arrived in Abuja yesterday from the aborted attendance at the 23rd Ordinary Session of African Union Heads of States and Government in Malabo, also visited some of the victims of the blast currently receiving treatment at the Maitama District Hospital in Abuja. Photos: 8 months pregnant Olympian runs 800m race

28 year old Olympian and five-time U.S. national champion Alysia Montano ran an 800m race at the Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, California, yesterday and people are now questioning if it's safe. 

Alysia received a standing ovation after completing the race in 2 minutes, 32.13 seconds, 35 seconds slower than her personal best of 1:57.34, which she smashed back in 2010 in a race in Monaco.

Suarez Banned from World Cup for Biting Giorgio Chiellini│Fined £66,000

Earlier this week, it was reported that Luis Suarez bit Giorgio Chiellini, a player from the Italian team during Tuesday’s Uruguay vs. Italy World Cup match.
Following the incident, FIFA has banned Uruguay’s Suarez from all “football-related activities” for four months, ruling him out of the rest of the World Cup and the start of the domestic season, The Guardian reports.
He has also been banned from entering any football stadium during the duration of the  ban, and has been fined £66,000.
“Such behaviour cannot be tolerated on any football pitch, and in particular not at a FIFA World Cup when the eyes of millions of people are on the stars on the field,” said Claudio Sulser, chair of the disciplinary committee.

Lagos Woman Reportedly Gives Birth after 14 Years of Pregnancy

Mercy James, a woman based in Ajegunle gave birth to a girl on Saturday 7th June 2014, according to Mercy, she “was pregnant for 14 years.”
The girl was aptly named Miracle.
14 years ago, Mercy believed she was pregnant as she started having pregnancy signs. Four months later, she went to the hospital for a test, but she was told she had fibroids and was not pregnant
She tells Vanguard Newspapers that, “Subsequently, I began to experience bleeding, at least once a day. Sometimes, my tummy would protrude in the semblance of pregnancy. I went to different hospitals, and I kept on receiving the same result that nothing was wrong with me. But deep down inside , I knew that all was not well with me.”.
A midwife later informed her that she was pregnant, Mercy says she was taken aback by the news. Mercy went to herbalists and visited churches about the condition, she was told the same news that the midwife told her. Continue...

Boateng & Muntari Kicked Out of Ghana’s World Cup Squad

 The Ghana Football Association has announced via a statement on its website that Kevin-Prince Boateng and Sulley Muntari have been kicked out of Ghana’s World  Cup squad for indiscipline.
Both players “have been suspended indefinitely,” read the statement.
Boateng was expelled for “vulgar verbal insults targeted at coach Kwesi Appiah during the team’s training session in Maceio”, while Muntari was punished for an “unprovoked physical attack on an executive committee member”.

Boko Haram Attacks Borno Military Post|21 Soldiers & 5 Civilians Killed

Boko Haram attacked a military post near Damboa town of Borno State on Tuesday, leaving 21 soldiers and five civilians dead.
The attack reportedly occurred at Bulabulin-Ngaura village, Premium Times reports. 
The terrorists were said to have arrived  in over ten trucks and motorcycles armed with heavy weapons like rocket launchers, anti-aircraft and several assault rifles.
“We could not match them because we had Ak47 rifles that are not fully loaded. When we realized that they have taken over the place, some of us escaped to Maiduguri and other places but many could not make it. As we were busy engaging them I saw over 16 bodies of my colleagues on the ground that made me to give up because I was not having enough ammunition to carry on,”  said a soldier.
The soldier also said he believed that some of his colleagues were abducted.
